Request food and essential items, and ask for someone you can talk to during isolation.

If you are self-isolating because you are at a higher risk from coronavirus, Eastleigh Borough Council, Hampshire County Council and local councils, including Hamble Parish Council, are working with local volunteer groups - including One Community - to get help to people who are self-isolating because they are particularly vulnerable to coronavirus (COVID-19) and can help to connect you to a network of community volunteers.

They can help with the collection and delivery of essential items, like food and prescription medicines, and also connect you (remotely) with someone if you just need a person to talk to.

Who is this support for?
This is to support people who are self-isolating (and so cannot leave their home) because they are particularly vulnerable to coronavirus, and who do not have existing help from family, friends or neighbours. They might include:

  • people with a serious health condition (and are ‘extremely vulnerable’)
  • people who are over 70, anyone instructed to get a flu jab each year on medical grounds and pregnant women
  • people who are displaying coronavirus symptoms
  • people who are self-isolating for other reasons

If you can get help from friends, family, or neighbours, please do this in the first instance so those who can’t can be better helped.

How it works
If you require assistance, please contact the following community groups depending on where you live in the Borough:

Kings Community Church covering Hamble, Netley, Bursledon, Hedge End, West End and Botley.

Keeping you safe
Delivery volunteers have been instructed to avoid any unnecessary social contact. Therefore, they will ring your doorbell, drop the supplies at your door and then leave.

Would you like to become a volunteer?
Find out how to become a volunteer and support those in your community who are especially vulnerable to coronavirus by providing vital supplies, like food and medicine, or being a friendly voice on the end of the phone.

This community group will then contact you to discuss what essential supplies you need and when and how they will be able to get them to you. They’ll also be able to put you in touch with someone you can just have a chat with.
